Ahead of the class 10 and 12 examinations of the UP Board, chief minister Yogi Adityanath warned on Tuesday that the National Security Act would be slapped against those cheating or aiding cheaters.

He said first information reports will also be lodged against room invigilators and centre administrators involved in instances of cheating while action will be taken under the Gangster Act against those found obstructing the examination, with their properties being attached.

The state board exams will begin on Thursday and conclude on March 4.

Last year, leaking of the UP Board class 12 English paper in advance forced the government to cancel the examination in 24 districts. It was then rescheduled.

The CM's stern warning also comes on the heels of the Uttarakhand government introducing an anti-cheating law following violent student protests in the state against paper leaks and scams in government recruiting. The law provides for fines up to ₹10 crore and even life term against those found guilty. This year, more than 5.88 million candidates have registered for the high school and intermediate examinations of the UP Board.
