Nothing CEO becomes Carl Bhai on X, asks Tesla's Elon Musk to also add 'Bhai' to his name for entry into India

Nothing CEO Carl Pei's recent response to an Indian user questioning the brand's choice of a brand ambassador has sparked a viral sensation. The brand ambassador in question is speculated to be Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. When queried on social media about the necessity of a brand ambassador, Pei's response, "We want to sell more phones, bhai," has amused many.

Pei's casual use of the term 'bhai,' meaning brother in Hindi, has resonated with Indian audiences who frequently use the term in colloquial conversations.

Pei further embraced the jovial exchange by changing his name on social media to 'Carl Bhai.' When referred to as "Carl Bhai" by a user, he responded, "I changed my name on X." Even the official Nothing India handle joined in, adopting the moniker "Nothing India Bhai" in response to Pei's tweet. Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis also followed suit, renaming himself "Akis Bhai."


Carl Pei also offered a lighthearted suggestion to Elon Musk regarding the establishment of a Tesla factory in India.
During a recent interaction on social media, Carl Pei humorously suggested that Elon Musk should consider adopting the username "Elon Bhai" on a popular platform like X. This playful suggestion hinted that such a simple change could potentially streamline the process of setting up a Tesla factory in India.

Since the playful banter, Nothing and Pei have actively engaged with users on social media platform X. Their official handle has been sharing memes related to the trend, encouraging users to add 'Bhai' to their usernames, similar to Pei's. As an incentive, the company announced that ten fortunate winners would receive the upcoming Phone 2 if they added 'Bhai' to their username.

Capitalizing on the trend, Flipkart, the official online retailer for the Phone 2a, quoted Pei's post, humorously stating, "Brb, adding a Bhai Now button."

The anticipation for Nothing Phone 2a continues to build, with Carl Bhai, Bhai Bhai, and Nothing Phone 2a dominating discussions on X.

In a recent video titled "Why Nothing 2a," Pei provided insights into the upcoming phone's features and capabilities. The Phone 2a targets users seeking excellent performance and camera quality without the need for top-tier specifications. Despite an expected lower price point than the Phone 2, Nothing assures customers of maintaining quality standards.

Nothing Phone 2a is scheduled to debut in both Indian and global markets on March 5 during the company's "Fresh Eyes" event.
