Not absconding, implicated in a false case: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan
AAP leader and MLA Amanatullah Khan has written to the Delhi Police Commissioner, alleging false implication after an FIR was lodged against him for allegedly attacking a police team in Jamia Nagar. The altercation occurred while police were attem...

In his letter, Khan stated, "I am in my assembly constituency, I have not fled anywhere. Some Delhi Police officials are implicating me in a false case. The person they came to arrest has already secured bail. When he showed his papers, the police, to cover up their mistake, falsely implicated me."
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has launched a search operation to locate Khan.
An FIR has been registered against Khan for allegedly manhandling and threatening the police, as well as obstructing them from performing their duty. The case has been filed under sections 221, 121(1), 132, 191(2), 190, 263(b), 351(3), and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
The altercation occurred on February 10 around 3 PM when a Delhi Police Crime Branch team went to Jogabai Extension, Jamia Nagar, to arrest Shavez Khan, an accused in a 2018 attempted murder case.
When police attempted to interrogate Shavez Khan, he remained uncooperative.
Soon after, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan arrived with 20-25 supporters and allegedly tried to intimidate the police.
According to the FIR, Khan and his supporters declared their disregard for the courts and the police, physically pushed officers, and helped Shavez escape from custody.
Since the incident, both Amanatullah Khan and Shavez Khan have been absconding.
On Monday, a police team visited Khan’s residence in connection with the case. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for South East Delhi, Ravi Kumar Singh, confirmed that Shavez Khan is still on the run and that efforts are underway to trace both fugitives.
Amanatullah Khan, the AAP MLA from Okhla, retained his seat with a margin of 23,639 votes. However, his party, AAP, suffered a significant defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning only 22 seats, down from 62 in the previous election. The BJP secured 48 seats, marking its return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
