Meghalaya Chief Minister earlier tweeted: “Received news about students from Meghalaya stranded in Ukraine. Humbly request Hon’ble Union External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishanlar Ji to ensure the safe return of all Indian citizens. We are praying for everyone’s safety. May peace prevail."
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, " We have expressed the concern to MEA to arrange the safety of these students, which is near about 100. We are in communication with students of Assam and when the Indian Embassy lifts students of Assam, they will also airlift Assamese students.”
Four students from Assam have returned to the state from the Ukraine. Meghalaya’s Health Minister James Sangma said that the government is in constant touch with the External Affairs Ministry to safely evacuate the stranded students and other citizens of the state in Ukraine.
