Noida, Ghaziabad to experience 20-day water shortage until November 2: Here are affected areas, other details

Residents of Noida and Ghaziabad will face a water shortage starting today, October 13, due to a 20-day halt of the Ganga water supply. This disruption is a result of annual maintenance on the upper Ganga canal in Haridwar. Full water service is anticipated to resume on November 2, impacting approximately 1 million residents.

Details of the Water Supply Disruption

The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has announced the temporary cessation of Ganga water supply, which will affect residents in areas such as Indirapuram, Vasundhara, Vaishali, and Delta Colony. Local authorities, including the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), have made alternative arrangements to provide water during this period.

Water will be supplied in the mornings at low pressure, and residents may experience reduced water availability. The disruption will impact neighborhoods like Indirapuram's Abhay Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand, and various sectors of Vasundhara. Some residents are already facing low water pressure due to existing transformer issues.

Impact on Residents

In Vasundhara Sector 9, some residents have begun purchasing bottled water to cope with the shortage. Furthermore, broken pipelines in areas such as Kaushambi and Vasundhara Sector 10 have exacerbated the situation, leaving certain locations without water entirely.

With this prolonged disruption, residents are advised to conserve water and utilize alternative sources where possible. Authorities expect that the Ganga water supply will be restored after maintenance work is completed on November 2.
