The company, in a statement, said fuel supplies to retail outlets are proceeding smoothly, with all its petroleum terminals and supply points in the state maintaining sufficient stocks to meet demand.
The PSU oil retailer, however, noted that certain locations witnessed a temporary spike in fuel purchases driven by panic buying, which briefly impacted availability at a few outlets. It clarified that there is no supply shortage and that such instances were caused by a sudden surge in demand.
“Supplies to affected outlets are being prioritised and inventory levels are being closely monitored to ensure normal availability,” the statement said.
Appealing to consumers to refrain from unnecessary stocking, Indian Oil emphasised that the supply chain is functioning normally and that adequate quantities of petrol and diesel are available across the State.
The company also cautioned against unsafe storage practices, urging the public not to store fuel in plastic cans, bottles or other unapproved containers due to serious safety risks.
Siddharth Aggarwal, State Level Coordinator for the oil industry in Karnataka, confirmed that public sector oil companies, including IOCL, BPCL and HPCL have adequate stocks at their terminals. He added that refinery supplies are continuing as normal and production has been stepped up to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability in the State.
