"No dog bite marks," says hospital that treated Wagh Bakri chief Parag Desai

After the sad and sudden death of Parag Desai, the executive director of Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers, known for its popular Wagh Bakri brand of tea, the private hospital treating the businessman issued a clarification on the same on Tuesday.

In a freak accident, it was claimed that the businessman suffered a severe head injury from a fall after being chased by dogs but according to Shalby Hospital, there were no dog bite marks on his body.

"It was stated that the patient fell down after being chased by dogs but apparently there were no dog bite marks on his body," the hospital said in a statement.


Further, a CT Scan revealed that Desai suffered an acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion which, according to National Health Service, UK is a case of a serious condition where blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain. It's usually caused by a head injury.

"The patient was admitted to the ICU and was advised to be kept under observation and treatment for 72 hours. The patient was discharged on the request of his relatives," said Dr. Nishita Shukla, Group COO, Shalby Hospitals.

As per Ahmedabad Mirror report, the 50-year-old Desai was taken to Shalby Hospital right away after he apparently slipped outside his home while trying to protect himself from street dogs that attacked him.

He was later shifted to another private hospital on Hebatpur Road as his condition worsened after 24 hours. An immediate surgery was performed, but unfortunately, Desai's health complications proved fatal, and he passed away on Sunday.
