Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha assured the Gujjar-Bakerwal tribal community of Jammu and Kashmir that their quota under Schedule Tribes will not be impacted even by one per cent and urged them to stop their protests and return home.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working tirelessly to fulfil the dreams of tribals and that people should not fall prey to instigators and rumour-mongers who do not want peace and progress in the region.

"The home minister has assured Gujjars and other communities' interests will be protected and there will be no decrease in their quota even by one per cent. I urge those undertaking padayatra to return home," Sinha said in an address on the launch of a week-long programme on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
