Nirmala Sitharaman in Qatar from September 27-29, to attend AIIB annual meet

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Qatar from September 27-29, the finance ministry said on Sunday.

During the visit, Sitharaman will attend the 11th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) scheduled in Doha on September 28, 2026, besides other important bilateral meetings with the AIIB President and her counterparts from Jordan, Switzerland, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Nepal, the Ministry said on X.

In the annual meeting of AIIB, Sitharaman will attend as the Indian governor to the AIIB. India is the second largest shareholder of the bank.


As part of the official visit, the finance minister is expected to call on the leadership of the Government of Qatar and also engage with Qatari business leaders and investors.

"Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. @nsitharaman will embark on an official visit to Qatar from 27th to 29th September, 2026," the finance ministry said on X.

The minister is leading the delegation comprising Ministry of Finance officials.
