NIA chargesheets accused in Chandigarh grenade attack case linked to Babbar Khalsa International terrorists
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Punjab resident Abhijot Singh, a key accused in the Chandigarh Sector 10 grenade attack masterminded by foreign-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist...

The accused, Abhijot Singh alias Babba alias Gopi, a Punjab resident arrested in April this year, has been charged in a supplementary chargesheet filed before the Special NIA Court, Chandigarh, on Friday, the agency said on Saturday.
The September 2024 attack targeted a retired Punjab Police officer and was part of a broader conspiracy to spread fear. The plot was orchestrated by Pakistan-based BKI terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda in collusion with US-based gangster Happy Passia. NIA said Passia handled recruitment, funding, and supply of weapons and explosives to India-based operatives.
Rinda and Passia were earlier chargesheeted as absconders, along with two arrested accused, Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, in March last year.
Investigations revealed Abhijot travelled to Armenia in December 2023, where he came in contact with Shamsher Shera, linked to Passia's terror module. Recruited into the network, Abhijot returned to India mid-2024, conducted a recce of the target in July, and attempted an attack with Rohan Masih in August. He received funds from foreign BKI handlers, before Rohan and Vishal carried out the grenade strike in September.
