The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against 10 men accused of trafficking a minor girl from Bangladesh into Odisha, marking a major development in a cross-border human trafficking case, officials said on Tuesday.

The chargesheet, submitted before the NIA special court in Bhubaneswar, details how the accused allegedly enticed the girl with the promise of a job before forcing her into immoral trafficking for financial gain. Investigators found that the group exploited the girl’s vulnerable background, particularly her family’s difficult financial circumstances.

According to the NIA, the case initially began with the Odisha Police, who had filed two chargesheets in a POCSO court naming six accused. The agency later took over the investigation, broadening the probe across state lines.

Subsequent searches in multiple locations across West Bengal led to the arrest of two additional suspects. Analysis of their social media activity and financial trails eventually helped investigators track down and apprehend two more associates.

With these arrests, the agency has now filed a comprehensive chargesheet covering all 10 accused, the NIA said.
