The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to Manipur’s chief secretary and DGP and demanded a detailed report in four weeks. It sought the status of investigation of FIRs registered with regard to the incidents, health status of the victims and other injured persons as well as compensation, if any, granted.

Police has registered a case of abduction, gangrape and murder at Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district against unidentified persons. Meanwhile, villagers set the house of accused Huirem Herodas Meitei on fire and have also ostracised his family.
