New words in English are born every day. While most are just flavours of the week and confined to a place, some linger, pick up traction, become buzzwords, entering the mainstream of dictionaries and finally turning into clichés one day. Slang – words and phrases used informally – are the incubators in word factories. Here’s a list a dozen ‘made-up’ words that are yet to hit the English language mainstreet but are ‘coming out’ even as we, well, speak.

If you have a made-up word fit to print and hit the street, send it to us at ETnewordnerd@gmail.com along with its meaning and usage, and we’ll add it to our growing online dictionary.
