Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the new National Education Policy (NEP), has gained unprecedented acceptance from the entire country owing to its sync with the nation's roots. He noted that the NEP is well rooted in "Bharatiyata" while also attempting to assimilate the global perspective.

Shah said that the policy enriches knowledge and culture and is aligned with the aspirations of society. is in sync with the nation's roots and has gained unprecedented acceptance from the entire country.

"The purpose of education is to develop character, empathy, courage and prepare students to deal with challenges of life. Education can enable India to reach the pinnacle of success. Society is looking up to us with expectations and hope to make it happen. Our educational aspiration is not only for earning degrees and certificates but also to achieve global good," Shah said at an event on the completion of two years since the launch of NEP.


"National Education Policy is in sync with the roots of the nation and has gained unprecedented acceptance from the entire country. The policy has clearly stated that robust public education system is foundation of a thriving democratic nation. Purpose of NEP is to develop citizens who combine national pride with global good with the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," he said.

Amit Shah has launched many new initiatives into the education and skill development sector to mark the completion of the two years of the NEP.

He also made note of the fact that the NEP is meant to be an antidote to Macaulay's educational system which was designed to colonise our minds.

The NEP was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2020 to replace the older, dated National Policy on Education that was framed in 1986 and was meant to pave the way for transforming reforms within the schooling and higher education system to ensure that India has a global knowledge superpower.
