New father Raghav Chadha raises paternity leave issue in Parliament
Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha has called for paternity leave to be made a legal right in India, arguing that caregiving should be a shared responsibility between both parents. Speaking in Parliament, Chadha said fathers should not have to choose between caring for their newborn and keeping their jobs, while mothers should not go through childbirth and recovery without support. Chadha, who became a father in October 2025, emphasised that laws must reflect the realities of modern parenting and ensure equal participation of both parents in early childcare.
