New app from Income tax department for tracking refunds, TDS, income tax payments, interest payments

The Income Tax Department has launched a mobile app to help taxpayers view their information in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) / Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS). Taxpayers can use the mobile app, called ‘AIS for Taxpayer’, to view their information related to TDS/TCS, interest, dividends, share transactions, tax payments, Income Tax refunds, and other Information (GST Data, foreign remittances, etc.) as available in AIS/TIS, the finance ministry said in a statement.

The taxpayer also has the option and the facility to provide feedback on the information displayed in the app. To access this mobile app, the taxpayer needs to register on the app by providing PAN number, authenticate with the OTP sent on mobile number & e-mail registered on the e-filing portal. Subsequent to the authentication, the taxpayer can simply set a 4-digit PIN to access the mobile app.

The mobile application can be accessed free of cost and is available on Google Play & App Store. The app will give a comprehensive view of the AIS/TIS to the taxpayer which displays the information collected from various sources pertaining to the taxpayer.


The AIS is a detailed statement that lists all of your financial transactions for a given financial year (FY), and it includes the information required by the Income-tax Act of 1961. The AIS includes information on interest, dividends, stock trades, mutual fund activities, international remittance details, etc.

The Annual Information Statement can also be access from the website of the Income Tax Department.

You can access the Annual Information Statement functionality by following below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Login to URL https://www.incometax.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on “Annual Information Statement (AIS)” under “Services” tab from the e-filing portal after successful login on e-filing portal.
Step 3: Click on AIS tab, on the homepage.
Step 4: Select the relevant FY and click on AIS tile to view the Annual Information Statement.
