Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Shisir Khanal, is set to pay an official visit to India from June 5 to 7 at the invitation of India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM), S Jaishankar, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.
Nepal's foreign affairs minister Shisir Khanal will begin a three-day trip to India on Friday, marking the first visit to the country by a minister of Prime Minister Balendra Shah's government since it assumed office in March.

It comes close on the heels of the chairman of Nepal's ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) visiting the country.

Khanal will meet external affairs minister S Jaishankar and the two sides will discuss matters of mutual interest, with a view to enhance cooperation across key areas including trade, investment, connectivity, energy and people-to-people ties, said a statement by Nepal's foreign ministry.

Khanal's visit comes against the backdrop of a fresh controversy over the boundary that divides India and Nepal. India's external affairs ministry on Tuesday categorically rejected any role for third parties.
