Nepal crisis deepens | India issues advisory, IndiGo, Air India halts Kathmandu flights

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has officially resigned from office following mass protests and civil unrest across the country. The resignation comes amid widespread, youth-led demonstrations against alleged corruption and digital censorship. Ministry of External Affairs has urged Indian citizens to exercise caution and avoid going out unless necessary. In view of the violent situation, the embassy has also released emergency contact numbers for use in case of an emergency. Indian citizens are advised to “defer travel to Nepal until the situation has stabilised”. In line with this advisory, Air India has cancelled multiple Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi flights. The affected flights include AI2231/2232, AI2219/2220, AI217/218, and AI211/212. Clashes between protesters and security forces have left at least 19 people dead and dozens injured, particularly in Kathmandu. Drone visuals show plumes of smoke covering the skies over the Nepalese capital. The government, in a subsequent move, has revoked the contentious ban on social media platforms. (ANI)
