The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that it received the IIT Delhi Report. The panel says that option 4 is the correct answer for question 19 of a particular set.

The bench of bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said the committee has opined clearly that there was only 1 option which is option 4. So NTA was correct in its answer key which was option 4 .

On Monday, the apex court had ordered the director of IIT Delhi to form a three-member panel to answer the correct option of a question in a particular set. The answer would affect the result of 4 lakh students.

The NTA released marks centre wise on July 20, without revealing the identity of students as per the order of the top court on July 18.

An analysis of results indicated that the candidates who allegedly benefitted from the paper leak and other irregularities did not do well. Some centres, however, showed high concentration of well-performing students, it revealed.

The data of over 32 lakh candidates from 4,750 centres was not released in a cumulative format but in a drop-down menu for each centre. The data was released on the direction of the Supreme Court which is hearing several petitions over the alleged irregularities as lakhs of aspirants await a final verdict on the fate of the exam.

The performance of the candidates from the centres under the scanner -- such as Oasis School, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Hardayal Public School, Jhajjar, Haryana, Jay Jalaram International School in Godhra, Gujarat -- were comparatively much below par.

NEET-UG, conducted by NTA, is a nation-wide examination for admissions into MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

The NEET-UG, 2024 was held across 4,750 centres on May 5 and around 24 lakh candidates appeared in it. During the hearing, apex court posed several questions to NTA regarding alleged paper leak and malpractices in NEET exam.
