A senior NTA official confirmed, "The re-revised scorecards are live now." Initially, 44 out of 67 top scorers were awarded full marks due to the disputed physics question. However, the number of toppers was later adjusted to 61 after the agency withdrew grace marks given to six candidates to compensate for lost time at certain exam centres.
In a significant setback for unsuccessful NEET-UG 2024 aspirants, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions calling for the cancellation and re-test of the exam. The Court found no evidence suggesting that the exam's integrity had been compromised due to "systemic breach."
This verdict supports the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and the NTA, both of which faced severe criticism and protests over alleged malpractices such as question paper leaks, fraud, and impersonation during the May 5 exam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating these allegations and has filed six FIRs.
NEET-UG, conducted by the NTA, serves as a gateway for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions.
