NEET-UG 2024 final ranking: Number of toppers down to 17

The final NEET-UG ranking 2024 was declared on Friday announcing that just 17 All India toppers with a perfect 720/720 score, instead of the original 67. Six students scored 716/720 while 77 attained 715/720, as per data shared by the National Testing Agency.

The number of toppers was earlier 44, based on the marks awarded for a particular physics question on stability of atoms. The number came down significantly given that a court-instituted IIT-Delhi panel ruled on a specific answer as the accurate one. Before that also, the original number of toppers was reduced to 61 after the NTA withdrew grace marks given for loss of time to six students, amid court battles. 2.33 lakh students had appeared for the May 5 NEET-UG test that has run into controversy over a range of issues, from allocation of grace marks to paper leak allegations besides the confusion over a physics question.
