A group of ministers and NDA MPs on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demand reservation for Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections in the all-India quota of National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination for undergraduate and post-graduate medical courses.

OBC leaders said that denial of reservations to OBCs in government medical institutions in all-India quota administered by the Centre ‘violated the very objective’ of the 93rd Constitution Amendment and remained a barrier for OBCs to access medical education.

The group, which included ministers Bhupendra Yadav, Anupriya Patel and RCP Singh, also submitted a letter to the PM. “PM Narendra Modiji has been sensitive to the inclusion of the marginalised in the mainstream. MPs today submitted to the PM a letter seeking intervention in quota for OBC candidates under all-India quota in NEET entrance exams,” Yadav tweeted later.
