On Friday, the NCW had taken suo motu cognizance of the case. NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar had written to Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant seeking full cooperation by the police to facilitate the NCW member Archana Mujumdar's access to the victim and her family.
"Police told us they had no idea about the whereabouts of the victim or where she is," Majumdar said, pointing fingers at the "lackadaisical attitude" of the police after cops reportedly claimed that they don't know about the whereabouts of the victim.
"The nodal officer of the police told me the victim's location is not known to them. She (nodal officer) does not know where the victim is presently. Speaking to the victim and her parents was essential for NCW. The commission stands with the victim and her family. Before I could meet the victim, she was hidden somewhere," Majumdar said, after visiting the South Kolkata Law College. "I am part of a Constitutional body but I could not meet the victim. My job was not done properly," Majumdar said.
