The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) suspended Superintendent VV Singh and intelligence officer Ashish Ranjan for alleged dereliction of duty, sources privy to the development told ET.

While Singh was the investigation officer in the Aryan Khan, Rajan is an officer attached to the intelligence unit in Mumbai. These sources further added that Singh and Rajan were suspended in a separate case which was recently brought to the notice of the agency.

"Certain dereliction pertaining to a court hearing in a drug seizure case was brought to the notice of the agency. The internal probe found that there was a case of wilful omission and commission by these officers and hence they have been placed under suspension," said an official requesting anonymity. "However this is not in the cruise case in which Aryan Khan (Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan) son was arrested and is currently on bail," the officer clarified.
