In his first visit to Prayagraj after the killing of gangster-politician Atique Ahmed, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said some people had made the city hostage to injustice and cruelty but nature has a way of "setting scores" and balancing things out. He also invoked verses from the Ramcharitmanas that talk about "karma".

Adityanath was in Prayagraj, Ahmed's home turf, to address a public meeting and campaign for the BJP's mayoral candidate. At the onset of his address, he described the city as one known for its role in spiritual learning as well as one which is looked at by the state's 25 crore population for justice (owing to the presence of the high court).

He then referred to a verse from Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas- "Karma Pradhan Vishwa Rachi Rakha, Jo Jas Karihe So Tas Phal Chakha" which means that in a world based on the principles of "karma", you reap what you sow. Without taking names, Adityanath said the verses hold as much relevance today, as they did in the medieval times and guide the karma dominated system.
