Narendra Modi to launch nationwide HPV vaccination drive, Rs 16,680-crore projects in Ajmer

The launch event will take place in Ajmer, in Rajasthan, where the prime minister is also scheduled to unveil and lay foundation stones for multiple development projects worth more than Rs 16,680 crore and distribute appointment letters to selected candidates.
In a post on social media platform X ahead of the event, Modi said the government was "leaving no stone unturned" to ensure the health and prosperity of the nation’s daughters, underscoring the campaign’s focus on preventive healthcare.
Officials have indicated the HPV immunisation programme will be rolled out in phases across states, targeting school-going girls as well as those outside formal education through public health centres and outreach initiatives.
The drive will be coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in partnership with state health departments, with logistics and awareness strategies aimed at maximising coverage, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Public health experts have long advocated a national HPV vaccination strategy, noting that the vaccine is among the most effective tools to prevent cervical cancer — one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in India — and that early immunisation significantly lowers long-term disease risk and treatment costs.
