Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh: CAF jawan killed, another injured in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh
A jawan belonging to the Chhattisgarh Armed Force's 9th battalion was killed and another jawan sustained minor injuries when Naxalites attacked a team of security personnel in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, Press Trust of India reported. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine area.

A senior police official told PTI that the security personnel were on an operation when the Naxalites triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) blast and opened fire on the patrolling team. This led to an encounter between the two sides. Constable Kamlesh Sahu, a native of Janjgir-Champa district, lost his life in the incident. Constable Vinay Kumar Sahu was injured and has been shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The search operation in the area is being carried out by a joint team of the Indo Tibetan Border Police and District Reserve Guard.


In a separate incident in Sukma district, a District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured on Tuesday when a pressure IED planted by Naxalites exploded. The blast occurred near Saletong village under the Kistaram police station area, PTI report. his comes after two security personnel were injured in a similar incident on Monday.

To facilitate road construction and other development works, a new camp of the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been set up in Saletong, a Naxal stronghold. Security personnel conducted demining operations to detect and defuse IEDs planted by the Naxalites. Unfortunately, during one such operation, a DRG jawan named Joga came into contact with a pressure IED, resulting in the blast, PTI reported The injured jawan is being shifted to a hospital for treatment. Search operations are currently underway in the area to ensure the safety and security of the region.
