The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced the closure in a service update on X. It said Namo Bharat services between Anand Vihar in Delhi and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh will operate as per schedule. Passengers have been requested to plan their journeys accordingly.

Jantar Mantar protests
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called a youth-led protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 over alleged "vote theft". In an earlier post on X, CJP's Abhijeet Dipke said that if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, party supporters from across the country will march to Delhi and protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. He added that if Delhi Police stop them, the place where they are stopped will become their Jantar Mantar.
On Friday, Dipke alleged in a post on X that thousands of young people across the country have been detained ahead of the protest. He said he will land in Delhi on Saturday and march to Jantar Mantar.
In a letter dated October 8, Delhi Police asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to reduce train frequency and close entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations from 9 pm on October 9 until the situation normalises on October 10. The police cited the proposed protests at Jantar Mantar and other locations, and the possibility of unruly crowds moving towards sensitive areas.
The stations include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, Kashmere Gate, Mandi House, ITO, Patel Chowk and Supreme Court. The advisory covers stations across several metro lines, including Hauz Khas, Lajpat Nagar, Jamia Millia Islamia and Sarai Kale Khan-Nizamuddin. The restrictions will stay in place until the situation normalises, according to the letter.

The DMRC confirmed the closures in a post on X. It said that for security reasons, entry and exit at the stations will remain closed from 9 pm on October 9 and continue on October 10 till further notice. The interchange facility will remain available at all the concerned stations except New Delhi.
Earlier on Friday, Indian Railways ordered the cancellation of all Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10. The order from the railway department's coaching directorate cited the possibility of severe road traffic congestion around the two stations.
