The girl, bearing visible burn injuries, including those on her private parts, had been confined to a rented flat in Atharva Nagri on Besa-Pipla Road. Her captors, identified as Tah Armaan Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan and his wife Heena, left for Bengaluru last Friday, leaving her alone and in distress.
During her harrowing ordeal, the young girl survived solely on a meager diet of chips and bread. It was on Tuesday that she seized an opportunity to break free and seek help from neighbors, who allege that the initial response from the police was disappointing, with a refusal to register a case or provide assistance.
The harrowing tale of sexual abuse and ill-treatment came to light on Tuesday when the power supply to the rented house was inexplicably cut off. Terrified by the darkness, the young girl exhibited remarkable resourcefulness by using a spoon to open the latch of the bathroom door. She managed to wriggle through a window grille to escape and sought help from the building watchman, who promptly alerted the neighbors.
A concerned family, who had previously seen the minor at the Khans' residence, informed a police officer, who dispatched two colleagues from the Hudkeshwar police station to the scene. Unfortunately, neighbors allege that these officers left without taking any action.
Sources have disclosed that the Khans had forced the girl into working as a domestic helper, subjecting her to unspeakable cruelty, including burns inflicted with cigarette butts and hot utensils. Heena’s brother sexually abused her and even allegedly forced her to have unnatural sex.
