While full bench of Election Commission is scheduled to visit Nagaland on January 14, the Nagaland People’s Action Committee (NPAC) has called for state-wide bandh on January 14 from 6 am to 12 noon expressing resentment over inordinate delay in delivering the long awaited Naga political solution.

The NPAC meeting held on Thursday which was attended by several Tribal bodies and civil organisations unanimously resolved to call for state-wide bandh on 14th January from 6 am to 12 noon expressing resentment over inordinate delay in delivering the long awaited Naga political solution as promised by Government of India.

NPAC stated, “The meeting was attended by 14 tribes who have expressed their stand loud and clear that we want a solution before the election. The demand for a solution before the election is a consensus demand of the primary stakeholders. So, NPAC once again urges the highest authority of the Government of India to heed the voice of the people and take the peace process to its logical conclusion and deliver a solution".

The meeting also expressed deep displeasure at the way the NPAC volunteers were bullied by Nagaland police on 6th January during the visit of the Union Home Minister.

NPAC added that the volunteers were peacefully displaying banners portraying slogans demanding Naga political solutions before the election.

Nagaland is going to assembly polls shortly. Nagaland chief minister N Rio met Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.
