Nadda to hold cabinet rejig meet in Delhi soon: Bommai

BJP national president JP Nadda has conveyed to Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai that the pending issue of filling up Cabinet vacancies in the state will be cleared soon in Delhi.

Nadda, who addressed the BJP state executive meet at Hospet in Karnataka on Sunday, held a closed-door meeting with Bommai on filling up the vacant positions. The state is due to face assembly polls in a year, and this is going to be the last cabinet exercise.

"Naddaji has said he will hold a special meeting to discuss the subject exclusively," Bommai told the media in Bengaluru.


Nadda is expected to discuss with home minister Amit Shah and national secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh before giving a go ahead, sources said.

The cabinet currently has four vacant positions, and Bommai told the media that whether he will go for a reshuffle of the cabinet, or a mere expansion will depend on the party leadership's decision. The chief minister said he will visit Delhi when the party fixes a day for the meeting. Sources in the BJP said the party is likely to compete the exercise by the end of this month.

There are also speculations that the chief minister will drop at least two ministers and fill up all vacancies. The CM may drop a couple of ministers and draft them for party work.
