Murshidabad murder: Bengal CM orders CID probe into Sujit Mondal killing, suspends 2 cops

Kolkata: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will probe the gruesome death of one person in Murshidabad's Dhuliyan.

Admitting dereliction of duty by the police, West bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari announced disciplinary measures against five officers from Murshidabad in connection with their investigation into the murder of the person in Samserganj area.

Parts of his dismembered body were later found and three people have been arrested in this connection with the incident, which police suspect involves dispute over financial dealings.


West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has ordered a CID probe in connection with the gruesome death of Sujit Mondal in Murshidabad's Dhuliyan.

Sujit Mondal was brutally hacked to death and his chopped body was recovered. Comparing the death with murder of Chandan Das and Haragobindo Das, who were CM announced the suspension of three police officials, closed one police personnel while Police Superintendent has been showcaused in this connection.

An unfortunate incident has happened in Murshidabad's Dhuliyan. We have taken the matter very seriously though late. This case is being held and they will be convicted in custody. Based on the DGP's report, the action has been taken, CM said.

Sujit Mondol went missing on August 28 after leaving home. The family lodged a complaint.

“Sujit Mondal went missing and then his body was cut into pieces. The case has been handed over to CID. The arrested persons are Samiyul Sheikh, Tajkira Bibi and Johnny Sheikh. We have taken the matter seriously. and Rs 10 lakh will be given to Sumana Mondal and given a job if she agrees,” Adhikari said.

ASI Sumanta Kumar Das and SI who is second officer, Samser Alam have been suspended. IC Subrata Ghosh has been closed and the probe will be done by CID. SDPO Farakka Sheikh Samsuddin has been given punishment transfer and SP-Jangipur Surinder SIngh cautioned and showcaused by Home Department, the CM elaborated.

In December 2025, a Jangipur court held the 13 guilty of murdering Haragobindo Das and his son, Chandan Das, and convicted them under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including for mob lynching and rioting.
