Bomb threat call triggers security sweep at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace Hotel
Mumbai Police on Sunday launched an investigation after the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel received a bomb threat call, prompting security agencies to conduct a thorough search of the property, news agency ANI reported.

Police said the threat call was received by the Navi Mumbai Police around 12 pm, with the caller claiming that the iconic hotel would be blown up. The information was immediately passed on to Mumbai Police, following which security personnel carried out a comprehensive search of the hotel premises.

No suspicious object has been found so far, officials said. Police have begun an investigation to trace the origin of the threat call and identify the caller.

Further details are awaited.

Notably, the fresh incident comes a day after a similar bomb threat led to a security alert at Delhi's Red Fort. The threat call, received at the Mumbai Police control room, was immediately shared with Delhi Police, which carried out an extensive search of the monument. The threat was later declared a hoax.

Police are also investigating that case and working to identify the person behind the call.
