Mumbai school staffer held after 4-year-old girl alleges sexual assault

A four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a prominent school in Mumbai, prompting police to arrest a female staff member, police said.

The incident occurred on Monday after the child’s grandmother dropped her at school, an official from Goregaon police station told PTI on Wednesday.

“When the girl returned home, she complained of pain. After a medical examination, her family informed the school administration and lodged a police complaint,” the official said.


Following the complaint, police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested a female staffer. “However, her role in the alleged assault was not clear,” the official added.

Three other female assistant staff members of the school have also been called in for questioning, he said.
