Mumbai reports 2,510 new Covid-19 cases; 82% higher than yesterday

On Tuesday (December 28), Maharashtra reported 2,172 fresh coronavirus cases, up by 50% from 1,426 infections recorded a day before, and 22 new deaths,
In what can be seen as a clear indication of the severity of the coronavirus pandemic, Mumbai today reported more than 2,500 new cases which translates into more than 82 per cent rise since yesterday.

Few hours ago, speaking to reporters, Aditya Thackeray said, "Last week we were reporting 150 cases per day, now we are reporting around 2,000 cases per day. Mumbai may cross 2000 per day cases today."

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope expressed concern over the rise in the number of fresh as well as active Covid-19 cases in the state, and termed it as an "alarming situation". The Health Minister urged people and authorities to exercise caution.
