Accused learned to shoot by watching YouTube videos: Mumbai police reveals the conspiracy behind Baba Siddiqui's murder plot

Mumbai Police on Tuesday revealed details about how the conspiracy to kill NCP leader and former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddiqui was hatched. Police said that the plan to kill Baba Siddiqui had started 3 months ago, the accused had gone to Baba Siddiqui's house several times without weapons.

To identify Baba Siddiqui, the accused was given Baba Siddiqui's photo and banner photo and was told that this was the target, said police. "The house and office were also recced 25 days before the incident."

According to the information received from Mumbai Crime Branch, the entire planning of Baba Siddiqui's murder was done in Pune, police said.


The fourth accused Harish arrested in the Siddiqui murder case used to work as a middle man, the arrested accused Praveen and Shubham Lonkar (absconding accused) had given Rs 2 lakh to the arrested shooters Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap and this money was delivered through the fourth accused Harish, Mumbai Police revealed. "Along with the money, two mobile phones were also provided to the shooters, Harish has been living in Pune for the last 9 years. The investigation also revealed that the accused used the Snapchat app for chatting and Instagram to call."

Accused learned to shoot by watching YouTube videos

The accused shooters Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap learned to shoot by watching videos on YouTube and the same accused used to practice shooting (without a magazine) in Mumbai, said police. Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested 4 accused so far and three accused are still absconding, search for whom is on. Mumbai Police said that in the black coloured bag found today in this case, they found a 7.62 MM gun.

Baba Siddiqui's assassination:

NCP leader Baba Siddique was murdered after being shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds before being rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the ossification test of Dharmaraj Kashyap, an accused in the murder case of Baba Siddique, was conducted by Mumbai police, and it was confirmed that he is not a minor, officials said. An ossification test is a medical procedure that estimates a person's age by analyzing the degree of bone fusion and is commonly used for age determination.

According to Mumbai Police, the accused were given a contract to kill both Zeeshan and Baba Siddiqui. The accused claimed during interrogation that both Zeeshan and Baba Siddiqui were on the target and they were ordered to fire on anyone they found. Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of Baba Siddiqui had received threats a few days before the incident took place.
