Mumbai: Mumbai Police has invoked stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (Mcoca) against all the accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case, as the investigation has revealed that the shooters allegedly tracked the movements of several Bollywood celebrities through social media before shifting their focus to the actor.

The police invoked sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of Mcoca after obtaining approval from the competent authority on Tuesday.

According to officials familiar with the probe, the shooters allegedly scoured videos and reels on social media platforms to gather information about celebrities' movements, vehicles and security arrangements.

Salman Khan was among the actors they allegedly considered targeting. But the shooters found security outside his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra too tight to carry out an attack. They subsequently explored other targets, including two prominent actors who had worked with Khan, but were unable to ascertain key details about their movements and vehicles, officials said.

The shooters allegedly conducted reconnaissance outside the actors' residences to track their movements, identify cars they travelled in and assess security arrangements, investigators said. However, they failed to gather sufficient information to proceed with their plans.

The shooters eventually shifted their focus to Shroff after allegedly being told by Anil Pandit, a suspected conspirator linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, that the actor regularly visited a football practice ground near Pushpa Park in Juhu on Sundays and had limited security, officials said.
