The altercation happened when Rishabh Chakravarti, driving his luxury car into his society, was followed by an Ola cab driver. When the cars stopped, the cab slightly bumped into Rishabh's car. Enraged by the collision, Rishabh and a woman who was with him exited their vehicle and began slapping the cab driver. Rishabh then lifted the driver and slammed him onto the ground, inflicting serious injuries on his head and body.
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Qayamuddin Mainuddin Qureshi, was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital by security personnel. Due to the severity of his head injuries, he was later transferred to JJ Hospital. After regaining consciousness, Qureshi gave his statement to the police, who then registered a case against the couple. Notices have been issued to the suspects, and further investigation is ongoing.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, clearly showing the man throwing the cab driver onto the ground. An official added, "The incident happened around 11:20 pm on August 18 when Ola cab driver Kayamuddin Ansari was travelling towards Ulwe in Navi Mumbai with a passenger. He submitted a complaint of assault on Wednesday. As per the complainant, he was going from Asalpha metro rail station when an Audi car dashed his car from the rear."
"When Ansari got down to check if his vehicle had suffered any damage, the couple in the Audi car, identified as Rishabh Chakravarti (35) and his wife Antara Ghosh (27), got down and started abusing him. Ghosh also allegedly pulled the Ola cab device from Ansari's vehicle and left from the spot," the official continued, quoting the complaint.
"Based on Ansari's complaint, a case was registered against Chakravarti and Ghosh. They have been issued a notice to remain present in court. Claims and counterclaims from both sides are being probed," the official informed.
This ongoing investigation continues to reveal more about the altercation and the events that led to the physical assault caught on camera. The authorities emphasize the importance of resolving such disputes through legal means rather than resorting to violence.
