Waterlogging was reported in various parts of Mumbai, including Chembur Ghatla, with rainfall causing significant disruptions. According to data, the city recorded over 200 mm of rain within five hours on Wednesday evening.
Between 5 PM and 10 PM, Powai received 234 mm of rainfall, Mankhurd received 276 mm, Ghatkopar recorded 259 mm, and Vikhroli experienced 186 mm of rain. Several flights were diverted or delayed at Mumbai airport due to the bad weather. Air Vistara indicated on social media that flights from Delhi to Mumbai and Hyderabad to Mumbai were diverted due to the weather.

Mumbai Weather: Waterlogging Disrupts Train Services
Road traffic was slow, and local train services were delayed due to waterlogging. The Meteorological Department issued a Red Alert for Palghar and Nashik, and an Orange Alert for Thane, Raigad, and Pune for Thursday. Heavy rain affected Mulund and surrounding areas the most, causing flooding in low-lying areas.The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) advised residents to stay indoors and issued a helpline number, 1916, for emergencies. All schools and colleges in Mumbai will remain closed on Thursday for safety reasons.

IMD Mumbai Weather Prediction and Warning
IMD issued warnings of more heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts. IMD scientist Sushma Nair explained that a trough from north Konkan to south Bangladesh was responsible for the widespread rainfall in the region.“This will lead to fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa during the week,” she said. Heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa and central Maharashtra until September 27.
