A massive fire broke out in Mumbai's Govandi area early on Saturday, damaging at least 15 shops and houses. The fire, which started around 4 am in Govandi's Baiganwadi area, resulted in no reported injuries so far.

The fire primarily affected around 15 galas (commercial units) on the ground floor and some houses on the first floor. Residents were seen trying to extinguish the flames using buckets of water.

The fire engulfed various items including electric wiring and installations, household items, AC sheets, plastic sheets, LPG cylinders, wooden planks, and furniture.


The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The fire brigade received a call at 3.55 am and immediately responded. Attempts to douse the flames were underway, with water tankers and an ambulance rushed to the spot.
