Multi-tier security rolled out in Dibrugarh jail after shifting of Amritpal Singh's aides

Multi-tier security arrangements have been introduced in and around the jail, Dibrugarh deputy police commissioner Biswajit Pegu told journalists. There are several layers of security in the cell where the Amritpal's aides were lodged, he said. "There is no specific reason cited on why the Dibrugarh Central Jail has been chosen," he said. It was part of Centre-state coordination, he said.
"All seven are detained under NSA. There are no inputs on any more transfer of prisoners as of now," he said.
IGP Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan had rushed to Dibrugarh on Monday to hold a high-level meeting on the kind of security needed for the prison. Daljeet Kalsi, Basant Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bhukhanwala and Bhagwant Singh, alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke, were brought to Dibrugarh on Sunday. On Tuesday, Harjeet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal and Gurinder Pal Singh were also flown in from Punjab. Harjit Singh is Amritpal Singh's uncle.
