Mukesh Ambani gets 3rd death threat demanding Rs 400 crore ransom
Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, has been targeted with a series of email threats, with the most recent demanding a Rs 400 crore ransom. The threats, which escalated from an initial demand of Rs 20 crore, have prompted a police ...
The accused said due to non-response to earlier mails the ransom demand has increased to Rs 400 crore, Mirror Now reported.
Ambani's company had received the email on Monday.
"Now it is increased 400 crore rupees, police can't track me, they can't arrest me that's why we have no problem killing you, no matter how good your current security is, but he is the only one of our snipers who can kill you", read the threat email, ANI reported.
An FIR was lodged at the Gamdevi police station earlier in response to a complaint filed by the industrialist's security supervisor following the receipt of the initial email, which requested Rs 20 crore from an anonymous sender on Friday. Subsequently, on Saturday, the company received another email demanding Rs 200 crore.
The company received the third email on Monday, in which the sender doubled the demand, PTI reported citing a police official.
The Mumbai police, along with their crime branch and cyber teams, are actively engaged in efforts to identify the email sender, the official said.
Last year, Mumbai police had arrested an individual from Darbhanga, Bihar, who had made death threat calls to Mukesh Ambani and his family members, who control the telecoms-to-clothes Reliance Industries conglomerate. The accused had also issued threats to detonate the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
