MUDA case: Karnataka High Court issues notice to Governor on writ appeal from Chief Minister

Bengaluru: A division bench of the Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered notices to governor Thawarchand Gehlot and others, seeking their response to chief minister Siddaramaiah' writ appeal challenging a September 24 judgement that paved way for investigations against him and his family members over a land allotment in Mysuru.

The Lokayukta is investigating charges related to Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) allotting 14 pricey plots to the CM's wife, Parvathy, in an upscale residential area in Mysuru in return for 3.16 acres of land that MUDA acquired at a village on the city outskirts.

In September, Justice M Nagaprasanna of the HC allowed investigation of charges against the CM's family under 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The single-judge bench had however rejected the governor's sanction.


The division bench of Chief Justice NV Anjaria and Justice KV Aravind posted the case for further hearing on January 25, 2025.
