New Delhi: The French coastal city of Nice will host more than 120 of India's leading deeptech startups for the first edition of Bharat Innovates event during June 14-16 , coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to France for the G-7 meet and a bilateral summit.

Modi will travel to Nice for the event, announced during French President Emmanuel Macron's February trip to New Delhi, as part of the India-France year of Innovation.

These startups will be focused on 13 frontier technology themes: semiconductors, biotechnology, space and defence, healthcare and medtech, advanced computing (AI/cloud/quantum), next-gen communications, advanced materials and critical minerals, manufacturing and industry 4.0, energy, sustainability and climate, smart cities & mobility, blue economy, agri and food technologies, and disaster management and resilience.


France-India's top-tier and trusted partner in Europe-is renowned globally for its technology. The Indo-French collaboration will enable Indian startups to learn from French technology and also generate funds for their future endeavours, a senior official told ET.

Bharat Innovates 2026 is a global platform for innovation partnerships, showcasing India's deeptech startups and research-driven innovation ecosystem to international investors, universities, industry leaders and policymakers. The event will also bring together more than 15 Indian higher educational institutions (HEIs), alongside leading academic institutions, investors, and government stakeholders from across the world.

The platform aims to foster strategic collaborations, technology exchange, research partnerships, and global market access for India's emerging innovation ecosystem.

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said recently that Bharat Innovates 2026 represents a national innovation movement and a global platform for collaboration among innovators, investors, institutions, industries and governments.
