The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on July 21 and continue until August 21, with no sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations.

President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposal for this session, which will mark the 268th session of the Rajya Sabha and a busy legislative schedule for the Lok Sabha. The government is expected to introduce and pass several important bills, while also pushing ahead with efforts to modernise and digitise Parliamentary functioning.

From new taxation reforms and sports governance to multilingual digitisation of proceedings, here are the key legislations to watch out for:

Legislations scheduled for introduction and/or passage

  • Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025
  • Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, 2025
  • Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025
  • National Sports Governance Bill, 2025
  • National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024
  • Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024
  • Indian Ports Bill, 2025
  • Income Tax Bill, 2025

As part of this digital transformation, the Lok Sabha Chamber has been equipped with dedicated multimedia conferencing devices at every Member of Parliament’s seat. A new feature now allows MPs to digitally mark attendance through these Multi-Media Devices (MMDs), streamlining daily procedures and saving time.

In a significant move towards linguistic inclusivity and citizen engagement, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has also begun publishing daily Parliamentary business and agenda papers in 12 languages using AI-based tools — Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. These documents are now made available in real-time via the Digital Sansad portal (https://sansad.in), enabling broader access to legislative proceedings for both MPs and the general public.
