Monitoring situation between India and Pakistan closely: US Secretary of State Rubio says after Operation Sindoor
Following India's Operation Sindoor, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed the United States' commitment to fostering a peaceful resolution between India and Pakistan. Rubio's statement comes amid rising international apprehension after ...
“I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely. I echo @POTUS’s comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution,” Rubio said in a post on social media platform X.
The US leader's remarks come amid growing international attention following India’s early Wednesday morning airstrikes on nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). The strikes were launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians — including 25 Indians and one Nepali tourist — were killed.
Shortly after the strikes, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke with the US Secretary of State to brief him on the actions taken during the Operation.
US President Donald Trump also commented on the situation, expressing hope for a swift de-escalation. “We just heard about it as we were walking through the doors of the Oval... They’ve been fighting for a long time... I just hope it ends very quickly,” he said.
