The Supreme Court registry has been directed to ensure timely posting of fresh cases, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has said. The CJI said that he would keep a "close watch" on the listing of cases and that would be his "first priority".

When matters were mentioned for hearing on Tuesday, the CJI said that he was keeping "a close tab on how many matters are being verified" by the team in the registry for removal of defects. He said that every morning he tells the registrar that any matter registered by Saturday, Monday and Tuesday should be listed the next Monday and cases registered on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by the next Friday.
