Singh, known for his online commentary and vlogs, was produced before the court earlier. His lawyer, Mohit, confirmed the court's decision following a police request for judicial remand.
“He was produced in the court. The police sought judicial remand. He has been sent on a 14-day judicial remand,” said Mohit, speaking to reporters outside the courthouse. “Now our right to bail has started. After discussing it, we will file a bail application.”
Singh, who ran the YouTube channel JaanMahal Video with over 11 lakh subscribers, was arrested following allegations linking him to a "terror-backed espionage network" with alleged ties to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Pakistani army officials.
What is the case against him?
According to police, Singh had travelled to Pakistan on three occasions — in 2020, 2021 and 2024 — during which he is alleged to have come into direct contact with ISI officers. Authorities claim that during these visits, he was recruited to carry out espionage activities within India.
Singh was also allegedly in close contact with Hisar-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently in custody on similar espionage charges. Singh's name reportedly surfaced during the investigation into Malhotra’s activities.
His lawyer, however, has strongly denied the espionage allegations. “There is no such thing that is being said in the media that he was an ISI agent,” said Dhupar, maintaining that Singh was “just a vlogger.” He also stated that Singh had already handed over his phone and laptop to Punjab Police during questioning in May.
Dhupar further claimed that Singh was summoned by Haryana Police for questioning in the Jyoti Malhotra case on June 6, but before he could appear, he was arrested by Punjab Police on June 4. He alleged that Punjab Police acted to prevent Singh from being detained by Haryana authorities.
