Modi inaugurates airport, AIIMS in Jharkhand's Deoghar

PM Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth ₹16,800 crore in Jharkhand, including an airport and AIIMS in Deoghar.

At the inauguration of the airport, the PM said these projects will give impetus to Jharkhand through modern connectivity, health facilities, energy, faith and tourism. This is the second airport in Jharkhand after Ranchi.

"These projects will make life easier for the people of Jharkhand, many new opportunities will be created for business, trade and tourism. These projects are being launched in Jharkhand, but many areas of Bihar and West Bengal will also benefit. These projects will give impetus to the development of eastern India," Modi said.


The PM said the country has been working with the thinking of "development of the nation by the development of states since the last 8 years".

The Deoghar airport will have flights to Kolkata and will soon add New Delhi, Ranchi and Patna to the list. Airports in Bokaro and Dumka are under construction.

The PM said the Centre is also focussing on the creation of facilities at important places related to faith and spirituality. Modern facilities have been expanded in Deoghar's Baba Baidyanath Dham under the PRASAD scheme. Later, Modi held a 12-km long roadshow in Deoghar. He also visited the Baidhyanath Dham to offer prayers.
