Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the government is working to minimise the impact of global conflicts on India, even as he alleged that the Congress is acting irresponsibly by trying to create panic in the country.

Modi was speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹23,550 crore in Silchar.

"Nowadays, all around the world, and even in our neighbourhood, there are conditions of war. You are aware of the horrors of war; you see them daily. The situation created by war--our government is making every possible effort to ensure that our citizens face the least possible trouble," Modi said. "Our effort is to minimise the impact of war on our people. At this time, it was expected that Congress would play the role of a responsible party, but once again, Congress failed in this important task of national interest. Congress is trying its best to create panic, to trap the nation in difficulties, and then to heap abuses on Modi."
